In 2016, Alexander Marchant helped the Austin Independent School District source lettering that would match the original historic 1930's lettering from an Elementary School. Robert E Lee Elementary is considered to be an inappropriate and racist name for a school. The school board voted to rename the school Russell Lee Elementary after a well loved local University of Texas photographer and professor.
Sun Valley Bronze was able to recreate the same lettering style and cast missing new letters to match. They are constructed from solid bronze and weigh about 40 lbs each.
Alexander Marchant donated all labor for this project since it was important to support the removal of Confederate Monuments from our public areas.
